3/3 Homecoming
I had the honor of taking homecoming photos for a fellow Ugly Angel who just completed a FAC (forward air controller) tour with 3/3. If you’ve never been to a military homecoming, they are quite a sight to see! There is nothing better than the anticipation of your loved one stepping foot off the airplane, helicopter, or bus and returning safely to you. I get choked up every time, even when it’s not my husband returning! It was so much fun to help document this special occasion for this family. After multiple changes in return time and being stuck in Alaska for three days, they finally came home this evening. As a proud military spouse, I think it’s fitting these heroes finally returned on Dec. 7th, especially considering where we live.
I love this first shot because of the halo of light around the airplane. It’s a beautiful sight to behold when your loved one comes home just in time for the holidays!

This is such a sweet family, with a beautiful son who has been through two deployments in his short little life. I’m so happy that they will get to spend this Christmas together and that father and son are reunited again! I’m so lucky to have been able to document this moment for them!

In honor of December 7th and all it stands for, I thought a vintage feel was appropriate for this shot. For generations, military members and their spouses have sacrificed time away from their families to protect and serve this great nation. I am thankful to be a part of this history and have a deep respect for all those who serve and for their spouses who sacrifice just as much. As you prepare for this holiday season, be thankful for the freedoms you have and for those who have served to provide you with those freedoms. Welcome home 3/3 and thank you for a job well done!

Christmas Tree Lighting
On Sunday we attended the base Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the base chapel. It was a fun time with the band, singing performances, dances, and a visit by the jolly man himself! It definitely got the boys (ok–and me) in the holiday spirit!

It’s Ball Season!
While I won’t be attending the Marine Corps Ball this year, I still get excited to see everyone all dressed up for the big occasion. If you’ve never been to one, it truly is an experience filled with history and tradition. I took a few photos for some friends as they headed out to the ball this evening. Isn’t she just absolutely gorgeous! They make a beautiful couple! I played around tonight using my Speedlite because it was rainy and nasty and getting dark. I haven’t quite gotten the hang of it, but man, it works like a champ!
