Yesterday morning, we got up at 5:30 a.m., loaded the boys in the car and drove into the city, so I could get some “night” shots of the city. Technically, I wanted to get some “civil twilight” shots. Civil twilight occurs when the sun is 6 degrees below the horizon. The horizon is clearly defined and the brightest stars are visible under good conditions. I love night shots, but really haven’t had much opportunity to do anything like that since we’ve moved here, and we wanted to do it before the time change this weekend. So, all bundled up, I pulled out my trusty tripod and wide angle lens and set up. While I was initially worried about the clouds possibly hiding the sky, I am really happy the clouds were there because they added drama. The best thing about shooting in this type of light is just how quickly the light changes. The sky went from a deep purple to a yellow/blue rather quickly. All in all, it was a great way to start the day!

Thanks Debbie!! I’m actually trying to set something up right now….trying to decide if I want to do Etsy or not!
These shots are STUNNING! The color and light is lovely and the I agree about the clouds. I am excited to follow you along on your journey. Thank you for sharing!
I love the way the colours change as the city emerges from the night… and the way the buildings themselves change from being defined by their lights to becoming sillouetted against the sky.
Stunning skies, absolutely beautiful! I love the second one

Beautiful! I LOVE your second shot. Good on you for planning and making a very early start to capture these.
Awesome!! I am mesmerized by the detail on your cover. You possess great talent on the HDR stuff with the skylines.
